NEW STORE! link in linktree bio and on ninapalumbo.com Many years ago, I burned myself out making art. Creating and branding myself as just an artist felt like a prison. I had the ability to emulate a lot of different styles to appease whatever client I was working for, which was a mixed bag. It kept work coming, but I felt like I was losing myself through commissions. I was creating for all the wrong reasons when I had other skills I really wanted to learn. I was VERY quickly rushing my work and hated 95 percent of my portfolio. I felt stagnated— so I just stopped sharing art and quietly began creating work for myself. Through the process of creating for myself first (and not keeping up the toxic social media churn) I found my passion again. I had the freedom to spend 10 hours on one tiny part of a piece and savor the journey. 📸 : @warmdefeat These were taken in Munich Germany last fall on tour. It’s rare I see photos where I’m comfortable with myself and I feel most comfortable in my gender identity when performing. It’s cool to see photos that show that. During the European tour, I felt that more than ever. Feeling blessed to be able to tour and having the energy to reach my goals. Been focused on the writing lyrics that represent themes of stepping into one’s power and self preservation. life update: spent the past few months redoing my entire illustration portfolio to launch a new store. For the time being I have prints on society6 (5 year old artwork) but I’m jazzed to share art work I spent a few years on. 🎨 New store later this month! 🎉 Learning to take my time with each piece and not rush the completion of anything for the sake of growing a network on social media. Fuck that. My energy expenditure has been reserved for kicking life problems in the ass and opening my life up to new things. I turned thirty last year and something clicked in me where I just started seeing problems as challenges/conquests. Maybe I’m just too old to complain when there’s shit to get done, maybe it’s growing up, or maybe it’s just who I’ve always been. Not afraid to be vulnerable. Not afraid to be strong. I don’t second guess asserting myself and don’t humor bullshit. Cut out the nonsense, flying monkeys, excuses, anxiety, etc. here, alive, and winning.
